*blinks awake* Hello, y'all.

I've missed you.

Things got a bit crazy there for a while, and I don't expect they'll get any less crazy, but I kind of want to come back to the community. I might not be here that often, but I do love me some dreamwidth.

This has been my year so far:

*Started a great internship, ended a great internship.
*Finished second semester of grad school.
*Started a business. It is Northern Lights Witch. You can totally buy a tarot reading from me online.
*Went to Norway. Am still in Norway.

... those are the major things. These are seriously just the broad strokes, folks.

Your turn! Comment and tell me:

1. Something great that has happened this year.
2. A challenge you're facing (if you feel like disclosing)
3. Something you're looking forward to.

I will try to do some backreading, but might not be all that successful. We'll see! Hopefully I can at least catch up on July.

Norway! Wow! Cool! Where in Norway?
<-- spent three months in Oslo in 2010

Altogether sounds like a great year. I don't have enough news to play your comment game.

I was visiting my parents, who lived there at the time, and doing the same freelance writing I do now. They were a reasonable-sized walk, or a short tram ride, away from Frogner Park, so I used to go there to hang out and enjoy the sunshine and public art. The Literaturhus is nice. I went there to get work done outside the apartment. Made a Norwegian friend there, an ex-journalist writing a book on the media.

I almost always like the museums best in a city: the ethnographic museum, the craft museum, the viking ship museum... oh man. The Munch museum. The Holmenkollen ski museum. The city museum in Frogner Park.

When my sister showed up, we took ferry rides to the islands and explored them. There's a ruined convent on one of the islands. It's a very peaceful place.

I also spent a lot of time just riding their public transportation system. It's an intellectual interest of mine, and it's also a way to visit neighborhoods I wouldn't otherwise know about. So I'd pick a line and just ride it to the end to see what was out there.

Grünerløkka was supposedly the hotspot for my demographic, but I found I didn't like it as much. I'm sure if I'd had Norwegian friends my age, and if I'd been more willing to spend money, it would have been more fun to hang out there.
