Wow hi it's been a while

Wow hello hi. I can't believe it's been two years since I logged in here. I'm back because I'm considering doing Get Your Words Out in 2025, and I know that they host the event on Dreamwidth. I feel like Tumblr would be a better (more popular) place to host it, but I get that Dreamwidth has capabilities that Tumblr doesn't. IDK.

Life has been absolutely nuts. I don't even know where to start with a new entry, so I think I'll just pop straight into life as it is now without much preamble.

I'm feeling super burned out lately between a lot of life things that are intense. Earlier this year, when I was in a hell job and couldn't see my way out, I devoured the All For The Game series. To people who know, that should be the biggest indication of my mental health. The books are not super well written, but the structure and symbols are really interesting. It's kind of a perfect fandom inspiration because there is so much to explore and the writing of the original isn't so good that it feels untouchable.

Anyway - I'm back on my bullshit and sort of playing around with some scenes.

I do this thing where I have fandom scenarios that just live in my head. Sometimes the same scenes will play over and over and they will get me through the day. Sometimes I associate an album really strongly with one of these stories. And I've been doing that lately.

It's like ... daydreaming as a coping mechanism.

(I enjoy Get Your Words Out a lot, and I am over there - and yeah, for some things, Tumblr is not that solution. Specifically long-form conversation and comments when they happen.)

And yes I'm back! We'll see if this lasts. I like the idea of GYWO because it can contain so many different projects. Like, the essays I write for patreon/my newsletter count, fanfic counts, it all counts

I find it amusing! (And honestly, what I love about DW - well, one of many things - is that you have so much 'hey, this is just my space' and how much that connects or doesn't to other places.)

and yes! I count for GYWO any of the creative writing, but also blog and Patreon posts, and any DW or forum post where I break out headers, basically. (Because that usually implies a certain amount of structure for me.)

It's so funny! I think I followed you here back in 2015? Something like that.

And yes - people are really respectful on here, which is really nice. I've been wanting to journal more about my everyday stuff lately and sometimes typing is easier because when I'm trying to write longhand my brain goes too fast for my hands. What can I say! I consistently return to blogging!

I have never read the All For The Game books, but I did read many of nekojita's AU fics for a while - so my impression of the series might be a bit off, but I can see how it could be very satisfying at the right time.

I hope you will become less stressed soon and that the daydreaming helps in the meantime :)
